Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Yuvvraaj
After breaking-up with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif has understood as who stands in need and who her true friend is. The actress who usually remains very reserved in private life as well as in public and never spoke about her relationship with Salman Khan has hugged him for two minutes in full public glare and before media.
All this has happened on Farah Khan’s reality show that she is hosting. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were the special guests on the show and when they were called up on the stage, Katrina and Salman hugged each other for two minutes without caring about the audience's presence and least bothering about media covering their ‘Jaddu Ki Jappi’.
When this unexpected happened, audience left with wide mouth opened.  It seems old love is reviving on the show but before media could spread the fire outside, Farah Khan cautioned the media not to spread the photographs. She even threatened to quit the show if any snaps of the incident leaked.

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ has already set a record, as the movie sold 32 million dollars worth of tickets online in advance.
The number certainly goes on to show that this is the biggest advance sale for any movie in history so far, reports Contactmusic.
The box-office forecasters believe that the film might also set a weekend record, breaking the earlier one that ‘The Dark Knight’ had set in 2008 with 158.4 million dollars in ticket sales.
The short length of the 3-D movie - just over two hours – will even allow the theatres to increase the number of showtimes for the movie, thus adding on more to the profit, the report said.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Review By Taran Adarsh By Taran Adarsh, July 15, 2011 - 07:58 IST

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Review By Taran Adarsh:

By and large, after graduating from school/university, before one steps into a fresh phase in life, friends do settle on having some fun… It could be an extended bachelor party. It could be an excursion. Living each moment to the fullest is what most of us are thinking at that point of time. ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is also about living each precious moment, as if there's no tomorrow. It's a film that also deals with surmounting and overpowering our personal fears. In this case, it changes the lives of three youngsters who embark on a road trip to Spain.

Zoya Akhtar represents the new brigade in Bollywood. But the talented storyteller is mired in controversies pertaining to ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA. Is it similar to HANGOVER? Or is it a present-day adaptation of Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut DIL CHAHTA HAI?

Sure, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is a buddy film like DIL CHAHTA HAI or like any other film that focuses on friends. But comparing DIL CHAHTA HAI and ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA won't be correct. For, the difference lies in the fact that the individuals in both the films face diverse problems. Aamir, Akshaye and Saif's dilemma is different from that of Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay. Perhaps, people tend to draw parallels between the two films because both focus on male bonding and are also produced by the same production house [Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar]. While DIL CHAHTA HAI was about the friendship between three youngsters and the individual journey each of them undertakes subsequently, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is poles apart in terms of content [screenplay: Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar] as well as execution of the written material.

There's concern that ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA caters to the urban centres of India chiefly. People beyond the metros wouldn't be able to relate with the goings-on. Sure, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is a refined film, a metro-centric film primarily, so what's wrong with that? Yes, it's unlike the masala films some of us relish with glee. But if masala means entertainment, amusement, hilarity, escapade, emotions and drama, yes, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA has it all. Only thing, it's treated differently. Everyone has his/her style of interpreting a tale, after all. ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is real and can be rightly termed as a slice of life film. The protagonists don't play 'heroes' in the conventional terms; they are not presented as larger than life here. Zoya's ability in bringing offbeat elements in mainstream cinema needs to be applauded and appreciated. Zoya understands the intricacies of human behaviorwhich wasevident in her debut film, and ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA strives to impeccably integrate authentic characters and bona fide situations on celluloid.

But the film is not without its share of blemishes. To start with, the drama is missing in the first hour. In fact, the first half comes across as a collage of some well executed sequences. Also, the comic scenes fail to evoke mirth. The three protagonists' attempt to scare strangers in a restroom, bar and on a lonely street doesn't gel well with their suave personalities on-screen. However, if the intention was to evoke laughter, sorry, these scenes fall flat. Besides, mocking at Doordarshan seems out of place and also appears in poor taste. Most importantly, the first half comes across as a showreel to promote Spain Tourism.

Another aspect that goes against the film is its running time. One tends to get restless after a point. In addition, the pacing is lethargic at places and it also gets talk-heavy. Zoya could've been ruthless in bringing down the length of the film. It would've only been more impactful. Three young men take a holiday that changes their lives forever. Kabir [Abhay Deol] is engaged to Natasha [Kalki]. Kabir decides to go on an extended bachelor party, before he gets married. A 3-week road trip with Imraan [Farhan Akhtar] and Arjun [Hrithik Roshan], his two best friends since school. The only problem is Arjun is too tied up with work. After much emotional blackmail and cajoling, the boys set off on a journey they were meant to take four years ago. A fantasy holiday they had planned to take after college, which never happened. A road trip where each one gets to do the ultimate sport of his choice and the other two just have to do it with him. Whether they want to or not!

Kabir, Imraan and Arjun meet up in Barcelona and set off on an adventure that not only make them iron out their differences, but also face their fears, alter their perception, unravel their fabric, force them to break out of the box and teach them to seize the day. This holiday changes their lives forever.

A travel film is tough to shoot. And it gets all the more difficult when you have a story involving multiple characters. Unlike LUCK BY CHANCE, Zoya does something visually and thematically diverse this time around. In ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, Zoya chooses an attention-grabbing story and garnishes it well with moments that may seem straight out of a person's memoirs. In fact, it's a completely novel take on comrades and camaraderie. While the first half has several wonderful moments [the strain between the two friends is well presented], the post-interval portions -- right till the well-thought-of culmination -- keeps your attention arrested. Reema and Zoya have penned the script with a lot of care and concern, borrowing incidents from real life. Besides, the fresh dialogue [Farhan Akhtar] augment the impact of numerous sequences. The exquisite cinematography is another aspect that catches your attention. The spectacular locales of Spain have been captured on celluloid with dexterity by Carlos Catalan. In an era where earsplitting and tawdry tunes are working big time, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy come up with tunes that the youth would take a fondness for instantaneously. The songs that appeal the most are 'Ik Junoon' and 'Senorita'.

The film boasts of an exuberant on-screen ensemble cast. As a matter of fact, it's an unusual mix of actors who are not prisoners of any image as such and one is curious to see how well they coagulate in this film. Hrithik takes up challenges for himself with every project he chooses to do and tries to outdo himself by pushing his limits. He is in terrific form here, interpreting an extremely intricate and exceptional character fluently, channelizing every emotion in the book through his eyes. The much-talked-about kissing scene in the film is also aesthetically filmed.

Farhan's character is totally different from his previous roles since he is playing the funster here. But beneath all the fun and jokes is a person who's looking for answers. He's concealing something even from his buddies, something that's disconcerting him persistently. Again, for someone who's not a veteran at acting, this is a character that needs to be handled with a lot of understanding and Farhan, thankfully, gets it right. In fact, Farhan is quite a scene-stealer on more occasions than one.

Abhay's choice of roles has always been offbeat and ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA reaffirms his stand on the kind of movies he wants to be associated with. Enacting the role of a rich, well brought-up youngster, Abhay is in supreme form, striking a super balance between light and dramatic moments. In fact, Abhay portrays the role with plentiful charm and magnetism. Katrina is a revelation. In fact, the actress continues to surprise you with her performances in film after film. Besides making an impact as a glamour girl, she's all out to prove her mettle as an actress of substance with ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA. Kalki plays a Mumbai girl belonging to the upper crust and though it's not a typical 'heroine' role, Kalki infuses life into the character, fitting into the conceived character accurately. Naseeruddin Shah is remarkable in a cameo and so is Deepti Naval. Ariadna Cabrol doesn't get much scope.

On the whole, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA has its share of plusses and minuses, highs and lows. It's definitely not for ardent fans of kitsch or those with an appetite for typical masala entertainers. This one's more for spectators with refined tastes and sensibilities. It's a film for a more evolved, mature and cinema-literate audience that's geared up to embrace and support newer genres of cinema.

Shaitan Review by Taran Adarsh:

The lives of the affluent and illustrious have often been chronicled in newspapers and television. The achievements get as much prominence as the heinous crimes they commit. Recall the number of drunken driving cases that led to fatal accidents and causalities or abduction of moneyed kids to make that extra buck. SHAITAN too borrows from real life. It maps out the lives of five youngsters -- three of them belonging to the upper crust -- and how the 'uber cool' youngsters commit felony after felony to smokescreen the dreadful offense they have committed. This motion picture brings to the fore the shaitan that skulks within us.

It's heartening to observe diverse genres being attempted fruitfully week after week and I genuinely feel that a varied variety of movies can co-exist happily in the cinematic milieu. In fact, it's imperative to be more acquiescent and embrace new genres of cinema. SHAITAN, again, is something the Indian audiences will experience for the first time. It emulates an actuality and the makers have tried to keep it as bona fide as possible, and it is this realism, edginess and awkwardness that stay with the spectator after the curtains fall. The fact that one feels distressed and distraught by the turn of incidents in the film only goes to prove that the writers [Megha Ramaswamy and Bejoy Nambiar] and director [Bejoy Nambiar] have done their jobs proficiently.

SHAITAN narrates the story of five youngsters who are out to have an irresponsibly reckless escapade, but get involved in a botched crime. Also, there's talk that SHAITAN incorporates the infamous Adnan Patrawala kidnap-and-murder case in its plot, which isn't true at all. Sure, there's abduction and also a spate of murders, but it doesn't borrow from that episode in any way. The film drives home a reality that the youngsters are aggressive, sexual, brutal, edgy and well aware of everything happening around. They like to investigate the darker side and push the envelope till they can be brought in check by power and command.

Anurag Kashyap's films have often been labeled 'dark' and though I oppose this jargon, I do harmonize with the fact that his films have a certain constituent of wickedness and iniquity that SHAITAN also encompasses. What really makes SHAITAN stand out from films of its ilk is that it captures the pragmatism or matter-of-factness characteristic most compellingly. The circumstances in life when the inner demons come to the fore and people are forced to react in farthest method [violent, in most cases] have been depicted intelligibly and most eloquently. Also, what makes it all the more interesting is the fact that the film is very well shot -- the novel angles and high speed shots make it an exhilarating cinematic experience.

SHAITAN is the story of five youngsters set in the urban scape of Mumbai. Amy [Kalki], Dash [Gulshan], KC [Shiv], Zubin [Neil] and Tanya [Kirti] -- young, intelligent, good looking and 'uber cool'. With no hang ups and no boundaries, excitement is what they seek till a moment changes everything. An accident and their actions to cover up lead them through a series of incidents across the roads, streets and bylanes of Mumbai and into the dark side that lurks within all of us.

Inspector Mathur [Rajeev Khandelwal], entrusted with the unenviable task of chasing the youngsters down, exposes the underbelly of the police system and crime while grappling with his inner shaitan.

Watching SHAITAN is like experiencing a tasteful David Fincher movie that's set in our neighborhood and helmed by an Indian film-maker. First-time director Bejoy Nambiar marries form and content magnificently; it's wielded with technical fastidiousness, while the various pulse-pounding episodes lead to a striking culmination. It's without doubt an intelligent offering with a poignant insight into the lives of five youngsters. The beauty lies in the fact that Bejoy not only takes into custody the erratic behavior of the youngsters, but also attempts to delve into their psyche. Also, the film explores how the addictive world of drugs and alcohol is corrupting and devastating the youth, although it restricts itself from getting into the sermonizing mode. In fact, it's a manifestation of what's happening around us in the current scenario.

I am tempted to mention all the sequences that gave me goose bumps, but that would be unfairly giving away too much. However, I wish to state that the sequence that changes the lives of the five youngsters -- the car chase and the crash -- is spine chilling. Your heart is in your mouth in this particular sequence. Beyond doubt, this is one of the most stimulating and intense films to come out of the Hindi film industry and Bejoy is unquestionably one of the most alluring discoveries of the year. He is far superior to a lot of established film-makers in the business.

I'd like to make a special mention of the spectacular cinematography [Madhie], novel, hard-hitting and forceful dialogues [Abhijeet Deshpande] and marvelous background score [Ranjit Barot]. The chase sequence [Jaaved Ejaaz] towards the second hour specifically is simply remarkable. Ditto for the sound design [Kunal Sharma], which is top notch.

On the flip side, the first hour isn't as persuasive. Perhaps, the motive was to reserve the best for the second hour. Also, the Rajeev Khandelwal track -- his marriage is on the rocks -- looks like a forced and unnatural add-on in the scheme of things. Without beating around the bush, the narrative could've done without the scenes of marital discord. Also, with such hard-hitting, uncompromising and dynamic content, SHAITAN could've easily been a songless film, though the soundtrack is wonderful.

The beauty of the film is that there are no heroes in the conventional terms. The protagonists are all victims who face the consequences of their decisions and assessments. Also, SHAITAN has an ensemble cast and offers ample scope for each character to perform. Rajeev Khandelwal, playing a cop who's fighting his inner demons, nails the role, giving a tight, focused performance. Kalki is excellent. She's sure to wow and shock the audiences with her act. Neil Bhoopalam is first-rate. Especially towards the latter moments of the film. Shiv Pandit gives a good account of himself. Kirti Kulhari is super efficient. Gulshan Deviah is top notch. The peculiar behavior comes across very well in several sequences. Rajat Barmecha appears in an interesting cameo.

The supporting cast also delivers fine performances. Pavan Malhotra is first-rate. Rajit Kapur leaves an impression. Nikhil Chinnappa is good. Rukhsar makes her presence felt. Rajkumar Yadav gets it right yet again.

On the whole, SHAITAN is bound to raise eyebrows thanks to its contemporary, thrilling, hard-hitting and forceful content. One of the most ingenious and entertaining thrillers I've seen in a long time. Also, it's one of the most stimulating and intense films to come out of the Hindi film industry. I am sure everyone would be able to connect with SHAITAN. Try not to miss this one!

Amitabh Bachchan’s Aghanistan visit, most dramatic and exciting

Khuda Gawah 200x148BollywoodWorld.com, Amitabh Bachchan’s work took him to many countries and one of them was Afghanistan, now a war-ravaged nation, where the Bollywood megastar says he had a dramatic and exciting time while shooting for his 1992 release “Khuda Gawah”.”I had been to Mazaar-e-Sharief in Afghanistan during the shooting of ‘Khuda Gawah’ and had personally walked to the premises, from where I was put up, the whole town following, to offer my prayers and to address the people that had assembled outside. The mosque is built in blue ceramic. Majestic and awe inspiring,” Amitabh, who took a walk down to memory lane, expressed his thoughts on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.
The 68-year-old star, who featured in “Khuda Gawah” with Sridevi in 1992, says his memories of shooting scenes there, are as fresh as ever.
“We were there to shoot the ‘bushkashi’ sequence in the film – an experience which needs a couple of posts to describe that visit. Somewhere there are tapes taken by my own staff on video of that historic visit. That visit shall forever remain etched in my memory as one of the most dramatic and exciting. As dramatic and exciting as the ‘bushkashi’ game on horseback, played live on the fields of the region, in a fashion that reminded me of the early films we saw of knights in shining armor, of duels and so Ivanhoe ish!!”
