Sony denies latest hack rumours
The latest post from the company, penned by apology regular Patrick Seybold, director of corporate communications and social media, said that contrary to reports, Sony has not been attacked again, rather that it could have been. Either way, it's not great.
"We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved," he explained.
"In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed."
Good work then Sony, apart from the fact that you had a URL exploit in a password reset page that was a fundamental part of your plans to restore service to your tens of millions of users. An excellent job.
"Consumers who haven't reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up", added Seybold.
